The short version
Most operators already own a spreadsheet of coating condition. What they do not own is the line from what the surveyor saw to what the crew is painting today — and they cannot defend the number in their AFE when somebody asks where it came from.
FeClass is that line. A surveyor grades a component in the field. The grade chooses the repair method. The method prices the work package. The package is what the contractor books against. The daily inspection, production and cost records come back against the same package. Every number on the way is still attached to the person who recorded it.
What it does
A risk-based fabric maintenance record for coated steel. It holds what a structure is made of, what condition each piece is in, when each piece next needs attention, and what that will cost — and it works out the last two rather than storing someone's opinion of them.
The asset
- Client → asset → unit area → component, as deep as the structure actually goes
- Every component carries its own area, service, environmental zone, access method, coating system and substrate

Condition
- Recorded by zone, not by component: 40% at Ri 5, 25% at Ri 4, 35% sound is three records, planned as three quantities, in up to three years
- Zones reconcile to the registered area exactly
- Surveys are issued documents — signed, sealed, superseded, never edited or deleted
- Offline tablet app for grading and photographs with no signal; uploads when it finds one
The calculation
- Corrosion rate, exposure, coating life, loss to date, remaining life, due year, criticality and cost, with every intermediate step on screen and exportable
- Recomputed from inputs, never stored — change a rate and everything downstream moves
- BSEE grading overlay, CADA ladder, risk matrix
Scope and specification
- Spot repair, major maintenance or full replacement, chosen by what was graded and by gates you set, including a minimum repair area
- Coating library with coat build, so one specification family applied three ways prints as three methods
- Where a product has no family to move within, it prints as specified — no silent re-spec
- Rate cards, method rules and gates are tables you edit
Execution
- Work packages built from the survey: scope by level, areas, conditions, products, methods, man-hours off your own prep factor, activity distribution, progress report, sign-off
- Daily coating inspection reports, production tracking and cost tracking imported from the field against the package they belong to
- A repaint is recorded only when there is an inspection report to prove it — then the coating clock resets

- Integrity-driven demand by year against your annual budget, with the shortfall shown rather than hidden
- Condition trajectory if the budget is the binding constraint
